On August 1, 2013, the German ambassador to Israel Mr. Andreas Michaelis and his wife visited Beit Theresienstadt for the first time. The team of Beit Theresienstadt and the head of the Emek Hefer regional council, Rani Idan, welcomed them. Tsvi Cohen from kibbutz Maabarot related his experience as a child in Berlin during the Holocaust, his time as a boy in ghetto Theresienstadt and how his family survived. The ambassador
took time for a long and thorough visit and learned about the activities of our association and the challenges in education and remembrance connected with the story of ghetto Theresienstadt and he also viewed the permanent exhibitions of our museum. Beit Theresienstadt asked him to strengthen the ties between Germany and the museum and the ambassador promised to further this subject, especially in the context of the 50th anniversary of German-Israeli relations.
