The Annual meeting 2013
The annual meeting of our association that includes the general assembly, took place at the club room of kibbutz Givat Hayim and at the courtyard of our museum, which - since its renovation -is a pleasant place for meetings and even for performances. During the formal part of the assembly the chairman of our association, prof. Eli Lawental was elected to continue another year and the members of the steering committee were chosen (the complete list may be found at Beit Theresienstadt’s website). The assembled members listened to Oded Breda’s detailed report on the activities of the last year and about our plans for the future. The meeting was held on Friday, May 10, 2013 and that enabled the participation of members who usually could not attend, though not many availed themselves of this opportunity. A member of the second generation who was present for the first time at our meeting, found to his surprise easily information about his late father who never told him about his experiences in the Holocaust.
The choir of the “Bet El ” Christian congregation from Zihron Yaakov appeared with a number of songs and there was a fascinating lecture dealing with the Middle East and our region in general and about its last developments. The ambassador of Slovakia, Mr. Radovan Javorcik, greeted the meeting and the Czech ambassador, our friend Tomas Pojar, used this opportunity to greet our members and to take leave from us before the forthcoming end of his mission in Israel, after nearly 4 years here.
