Holocaust Remembrance Institutions in Israel Condemn Latest Racial and Xenophobic Incitement
The Holocaust remembrance organizations in Israel – Yad Vashem, Massua (Tel Yitzhak), The Ghetto-Fighters Museum (Lohamei Hagetaot), Moreshet (Givat Haviva), Beit Edut (Nir Galim), Holocaust Museum (Yad Mordehai) and Beit Terezin (Givat Hayim Ihud) – condemn the manifestations of racial and xenophobic incitement from various sites that appeared lately in Israeli society.
The organizations fostering Holocaust remembrance and its meaning, working to preserve the memory and to educate the next generations, want to express their deep concern regarding calls against various groups of citizens living in Israel.
Israeli society, based on Jewish, Zionist and common humanist values, cannot accept such calls and manifestations. Past experience teaches us the importance and also the fragility of these basic values of mutual co-existence and respect.
We appeal to Israeli society to reject calls for hate and exclusion of the “other” and of the stranger in our midst.
