The exhibition “LIGA TEREZIN – Sport and Youth in Theresienstadt” is a historical-educational exhibition about the story of the league and its players, shown on the background of the development of Jewish sport before WWII, as part of the day-to-day culture of Central European Jewry. Since sport was an important part of the cultural experience, it got its place also in the variegated cultural activity in Theresienstadt, together with educational, musical and artistic activities inasmuch as the Germans permitted that – when it suited their own interest.

The exhibition displays video clips showing scenes from a soccer game, filmed in the ghetto, as part of a Nazi propaganda movie, testimonies by survivors who had participated in and watched the league games, pictures from the ghetto era and before, objects from sport in the ghetto, diaries, newspaper cuttings and drawings by youth and adults, documenting these activities and their influence on the young people in the ghetto.

The teaching program tailored especially for this exhibition is titled “The Game Was Our Life” ; it is focused on the educational and value-related meaning of sport, participants encounter the personalities and the world view of the players and the organizers of sport activities in the ghetto, who endeavored  to implant educational values through sport and especially soccer. This was a way to keep sane and also to maintain a connection to a lost world. Other subjects dealt with by the curriculum are relevant to the world of soccer today, like: racism and violence.

The teaching program is intended for students, youth groups and soldiers who visit Beit Theresienstadt.
